MDaemon Technical Requirements
These are the minimum recommended system requirements for MDaemon email server for Windows to run. This does not take into account running multiple programs simultaneously. To run several programs on the computer at the same time, that computer should exceed these recommendations.
- Microsoft Windows XP/2000/2003 operating system (including 64-bit versions)
- Computer with Pentium III 500 MHz (or higher) processor (Pentium 4 2.4 GHz or higher recommended)
- 512 MB of memory (1 GB recommended)
- Typical Hard disk space required: 100MB, additional space for any mail to be stored
- Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher
- Ethernet Network Card
- TCP/IP network protocol installed
- Internet or Intranet communication capabilities
Note: MDaemon does not currently support Vista or Server 2008.
Note: Like all mail servers MDaemon is heavily I/O bound - performance can be dramatically improved with faster hard drives.
Microsoft Vista Compatibility
Alt-N Technologies is committed to providing its customers with reliable, secure Windows-based messaging products. We have been conducting evaluations of our products against the new system requirements of the Vista platform. Based upon our testing and evaluations, MDaemon is not yet compatible with Windows Vista. We will support this new platform soon and will notify customers and partners when the product can be reliably deployed on this operating platform.

The upgrade was painless ... And all I can say is WOW!
MDaemon 9 is everything advertised and more! Much faster IMAP and WorldClient sessions, and the new multi-threaded Content Filter and separate Spam Assassin MDaemon ROCKS! In fact, it's actually much lighter on CPU and RAM than v8.15 on my system. For the first time, I am now able to enable INLINE AV and SA scanning and the system keeps up with the load without producing a backlog. It's so fast that I've actually added a lot of DNSBL rules to my SA installation for sites like SORBS, SPEWS, FIVETEN and some others. You may want to consider adding these to SA as they are catching a lot of junk.
A hardy thanks to you and your entire team on a GREAT job and a great product!
